Investigation

The main objective of the center is to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and development of research activities and projects aimed especially at the study and advancement of e-society along three principal lines:

1) The impact and challenges of the innovations of the digital technologies and their relationship to the changes, opportunities and crises of today's information and knowledge society, as well as their consequences for the development and politics of science, technology, and the culture of the digital society. The participants of this line of research are integrated into the STe-S (Science, Technology and e-Society) network

Coordinator: Dr. Manuel Medina

2) The effects of the application and diffusion of the digital technologies in systems of education and training and in society as a whole, as well as the consequences and opportunities for future forms of learning and knowledge transmission, such as e-learning, ubiquitous learning, and lifelong learning.

Coordinator: Dr. Mario Barajas

3) The implementation of digital technologies in political and administrative institutions and new perspectives for politics, government, and democratic participation in the direction of e-politics, e-government, e-administration, and e-democracy.

Coordinator: Dr. Josep Mª Reniu

The collaborative interdisciplinary treatment of these lines of research allow for the interconnected study of the central problems of the e-society
